There is a good sandy beach at Teignmouth, with all the usual seaside attractions, and a ferry which is a motorised gondola, which will ferry you across the estuary to Shaldon. Shaldon is a little village under the lea of a great cliff, with botanical gardens, and quaint old pubs backing onto the estuary.
